Intense pulsed light (IPL) or flashlamp therapy is a non-invasive and non-ablative treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of visible light to improve the appearance of the following skin problems: Vascular lesions including spider telangiectasia, port wine stains, broken facial veins, rosy cheeks, rosacea, freckles and age marks, facial lines and wrinkles, removal of unwanted dark hair.

Works with Fitzpatrick skin types 1-5, although the results tend to be more effective with lighter skin and darker hair tones

Three modes of hair removal:

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

This mode allows you to perform hair removal on the face and body. This technology is a versatile tool essential for every successful professional. IPL emits powerful polychromatic light pulses to generate changes in the patient's hair.

Super Hair Removal (SHR)

This mode allows you to provide treatment with continuous motion on larger areas such as the legs, arms, and back. This function emits 10 shots per second and is backed by a semiconductor cooling system for pain-free treatments. You can manipulate the energy, pulse width and speed for customized treatment protocols.

Fractional Pulse (FP)

This function allows you to remove hair on smaller, sensitive areas such as the bikini area, upper lip, and underarms. It utilizes a series of pulses to eliminate hair in such areas.

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and is a type of light treatment that uses strong pulses of light to stimulate or treat various issues within the skin. Sometimes people think an IPL is a laser as they can do some similar things, but they are not the same. However, the principle of how they work for hair removal is similar: both direct light at the pigment in the hair, causing a burst of heat that damages or kills the cells that cause that hair to grow. The light that comes out of an IPL device is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, causing a buildup of energy which turns to heat which travels down the hair and disables or destroys the cells that make new ones.

Intense Pulsed Light targets the melanin, breaking up bonds between the cells to lighten the patches and disperse the clusters over time. The IPL is the best treatment for fading away excess brown pigment (freckles, sun/age spots, melasma) as well as clearing facial redness associated with Rosacea and sun damage. The IPL targets the cells that contain the excess pigment and then causes the pigment to rise to the surface of the skin where it sloughs off. Because excess pigment is deposited at various levels/layers of the skin it takes up to 6 treatments to reach the deeper layers of pigment and to obtain optimal results.
