Joe Miller is the visionary founder behind Beard Octane, a Connecticut-based handcrafted beard care brand built on the foundation of passion, experimentation, and high standards. 

Beginning on July 4, 2018, Joe started Beard Octane from his home—first in a spare bedroom, then a garage—driven by frustration over off-the-shelf products that irritated his skin.  Through trial, error, and extensive research, he developed his own formulas and refined them into the lineup you see today. 

Under Joe’s leadership, the brand has grown rapidly: from 10 initial scents to 26 flavors, expanding beyond beard oils and balms to include soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and even a line known as Beef Octane. Joe emphasizes that all products are handmade in the USA, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and crafted with ingredient transparency and integrity. 

Joe also focuses heavily on education and community building. He positions Beard Octane not just as a product company, but as a teaching platform—helping bearded men, barbers, and enthusiasts understand beard biology, grooming techniques, and product science. 

Beyond his entrepreneurial role, Joe maintains direct engagement with the brand’s audience—appearing in videos alongside his son, interacting on social media, and using his journey (from humble beginnings to full facility) as inspiration for others. 

He continues to guide Beard Octane’s growth while upholding its core values: authenticity, innovation, education, and quality.
